Public Library

Radium Hot Springs Public LibraryThe Radium Hot Springs Library was first established February 15, 1994 and was located at the Radium Elementary School.  The Library consisted of one wall of books donated from local residents. The Library quickly outgrew its space and on May 6, 1995 it relocated to the Radium Seniors’ Hall.  The Library was housed in a small corner room upstairs and a small room in the basement.  It was operated for limited hours by a few volunteers.

The Library continued to grow and in 2006, it became British Columbia’s newest Public Library.  At that time a Board of Directors was formed and a Librarian hired on a part-time basis. On June 22, 2008, the Library moved to a bigger space in the Radium Plaza. After spending 10 years at that location, the library was moved into its beautiful, spacious and high tech home in the new Radium Hot Springs Centre, located at 4863 Stanley Street.

The Library will be open July 3rd, 2018!

Building for the Future: A Legacy for Sustainability

The Radium Hot Springs Public Library has established an endowment fund with the Columbia Valley Community Foundation (https://valleyfoundation.ca) to sustain its long-term development. The annual interest payments from the fund will enable the library to expand the services it offers to its Valley-wide patrons.

The “RHSPL Endowment Fund” will support the library’s programming and enhance its services when it movesin 2018 to a larger home in the new Radium Hot Springs Community Hall. As the fund grows through donations and bequests from permanent and part-time residents and patrons, the library will be able to offer expanded programs and services.

Donors can make a donation in memory of a friend or relative, or include an endowment bequest to the Library in their estate planning.

Donors will receive a charitable receipt for income tax purposes.

Donations may be made by cheque to the Columbia Valley Community Foundation or by an on-line donation through Canada Helps:http://valleyfoundation.ca/donate-now/.

We are always looking for new volunteers. Everyone is welcome!  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the library director at 347-2434.
