
OPEN BURNING BAN
As per the Southeast Fire Centre (bcwildfire.ca), effective noon (1:00pm MST), Thursday, May 18th, 2023, and until further notice, Category 2 Open Burning is prohibited within the southeast fire area, including the Village of Radium Hot Springs
Specifically prohibited activities will include:
• Category 2: One to two concurrently burning piles no larger than two metres high by three metres wide or burning stubble or grass over an area less than 0.2 hectares;
• Fireworks;
• Sky Lanterns;
• Exploding binary targets;
• Air curtain burners and,
• Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description, except when used for a campfire as defined by the Wildfire Regulation;
• Category 3 Open Fires are also prohibited.
This prohibition does not apply to Category 1 – Campfires that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide or smaller or to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.
The discharge of any fireworks within the Village of Radium Hot Springs is always prohibited without a permit issued by the Radium Hot Springs Fire Department. Please read the Village of Radium Hot Springs Bylaw No. 436, for details on the use and sale of fireworks within the Village.
