Living in Radium Hot Springs
Authentic. Connected. Self-sufficient. Beautiful. Compact. An Environmental Steward. Radium is a small, close knit mountain village that is personable and personal.
Living in Radium Hot SpringsWelcome to the friendly Village of Radium Hot Springs, a beautiful mountain village in the Columbia Valley right at the entrance to Kootenay National Park. Recently voted the friendliest town in Canada, our community is ready with a warm welcome. We are a home to over 1300 full time residents, and are a home-away-from-home for many more part-timers. Residents and visitors all enjoy an authentic small community feel with all in-town services and amenities easily walkable. Spend time exploring the vibrant Village downtown to visit local restaurants, shopping, and activities.
The Village of Radium has amenities for everyone including walking paths, pickleball courts, outdoor firepits, a community skating rink, splash park, and river access free for residents and visitors to enjoy. We recently built the award winning Radium Hot Springs Centre & Public Library and have additional municipal facilities available Larger communities and additional services are only a ten minute drive away.
Visitors will enjoy a wide selection of accommodations including resorts, small boutique motels, campgrounds, and vacation rentals. We have many small locally owned and independent places to eat and to find refreshments. If you are looking for things to do, we are home to a wide variety of activities and tours for both tourists and locals.
Radium Hot Springs is proud to be the welcoming point for many visitors to the Columbia Valley from our neighbouring province of Alberta. Visitors will find plenty of vacation ideas and guidance at the Tourism Radium Hot Springs website, or by stopping in to the Visitor Information Centre on Main Street East.
Radium is famous for our Bighorn Sheep which are seen in and around town on a daily basis. Nestled between the Rocky Mountains and the Purcells, the Village sits on the edge of the mighty Columbia River and offers access to a wide range of outdoor activities and beautiful views all year long. Our most popular natural attractions include the Radium Hot Springs Pools (after which our Village is named), Kootenay National Park with 1,406 km2 of protected Rocky Mountain beauty, and the extensive Columbia Wetlands which are among the largest in North America and home to hundreds of species of birds, mammals, and insects.
