Free and abundant parking is what distinguishes the Village of Radium Hot Springs from many other small resort communities. Main Street E runs parallel to Highway 93/95 on the east side of the village’s downtown, and Main Street W runs parallel to the highway on the west side. Both streets offer free, unrestricted parking for non-commercial vehicles in the downtown core and provide easy access to the many businesses located there.
A 3-hour time restriction is in place for any commercial vehicles or vehicle and trailer combinations with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating exceeding 5,500 kg. This restriction applies to any highway or street within the commercial zone, basically Main Street East West. No parking of commercial vehicles is permitted on residential streets.
This bylaw allows enough time for commercial vehicle drivers to be able to park, have a meal, and shop at local stores, but not park long-term or stay overnight along the highway or streets.
There are also public parking lots behind Mountainside Market (Stations Drive), as well as across from the Bighorn Motel (St. Mary’s Street).
The Village’s Traffic and Parking bylaw can be found under the Bylaw section of the Village’s Document Centre – https://radiumhotsprings.civicweb.net/filepro/documents/
