In 2026, this program will become known as the Local FireSmart Collective program(LFCP). The LFCP introduces a four-tier system to track and celebrate progress. Each tier reflects increasing levels of community engagement and wildfire resilience, with financial incentives and recognition available along the way.
This flexible program is more inclusive than ever, welcoming not just homes and properties but also parks, campuses, and businesses.
Elk Park Ranch is the first neighbourhood in Radium Hot Springs to achieve recognition as a FireSmart BC neighbourhood. This education and recognition program is an excellent way to support your community’s efforts to increase resilience to wildfires. For more information, please visit the link below and consider contacting the Radium Hot Springs FireSmart Coordinator at Firesmart@radiumhotsprings.ca. Neighbourhoods involved in the program can typically apply for grants ranging from $500 to $1,000 during the late fall and winter.
