The Village of Radium Hot Springs is located just outside the west entrance to Kootenay National Park, one of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, which are comprised of Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho national parks and Mount Robson, Mount Assiniboine and Hamber provincial parks.
On April 21, 1920, the Government of Canada agreed to build a road connecting the Bow and Columbia valleys. As part of the agreement, eight kilometres of land on either side of the road was set aside for protection — Kootenay National Park was born!

Kootenay National Park Visitor Centre
The Kootenay National Park Visitor Centre is located in the Village of Radium Hot Springs just outside the park’s west boundary. The Visitor Centre shares a building with Tourism Radium and the Friends of Kootenay.

The Kootenay National Park Visitor Centre offers Parks Canada Visitor Centre services including backcountry reservations, national parks fishing licences, park information and pass sales.
All visitors are required to purchase a daily or annual pass when visiting Canada’s national parks. Passes for Kootenay National Park may be purchased from any national park entry gate or the Kootenay National Park Visitor Information Centre. User fees collected through pass sales help support park improvements, trail maintenance, interpretation programs and information services.
In addition to selling passes and providing information about Kootenay National Park and the Columbia Valley, the Kootenay National Park Visitor Information Centre is home to a number of interpretive exhibits that illuminate the fascinating cultural and natural heritage of Kootenay National Park and the Columbia Valley with a special focus on the local Ktunaxa First Nations’ culture.
